Mental health supports, designed by the people who use them.

We're calling on State and City legislators to come together, with peers at the table, to build upon New York's 130-year legacy of modernizing mental health policies and programs.

Why?

New York is facing a costly and inhumane crisis, caused and exacerbated by three compounding factors:

Mental Health Condition
Homelessness

Justice-Involvement

How?

The Person-Centered Mental Health Act aims to bring legislators, peers, and providers together to promote mental health care solutions that center the following values:

+ Equity & Human Rights
+ Social Determinants of Health
+ Cost Effectiveness
+User-Rated Quality
+Scability

Who?

The Seat at the Table Campaign is about changing the way mental health services are planned and delivered.

It puts people who depend on services
"at the table" when important decisions get made.

Vision and Principles

The Social Justice Policy Collective was formed to advance programs and policies that address the needs of people living with mental health conditions who experience financial insecurity, racism, substance use/misuse, and trauma, and who rely on public supports to meet their basic needs.

The Social Justice Policy Collective

The Collective grew out of a series of policy and planning discussions held between February and April 2022.  These sessions were organized and led by the Public Policy Lab of New York City and were underwritten by a private donor.

The Campaign

The Seat at the Table campaign was launched in June 2022 with the goal of reforming the mental health planning process in all arenas by including service users and their allies as active participants in all decision-making sessions.
